Cape Town - Come and See 'Stof Rooi' This Week at the City Hall Auditorium!
As
part of the 2016 Cape Town Fringe Festival, the Kleisand Theatre and
Theatre Arts Admin Collective presents Stof Rooi, a grappling
dance piece performed by Dustin Beck which explores the conflicts of
language and identity associated with the ancestry and present-day
reality of a young boy in the Northern Cape.
Stof
Rooi is directed by Jason Jacobs,
who was born and bred in the Northern Cape. Jason is a seasoned
actor, poet and director who was the winner of the Emerging Theatre
Directors Bursary for 2016 as well as a nominee for the Fleur Du Cap
ROSALIE VAN DER GUCHT PRIZE FOR NEW DIRECTORS. Following a successful
run at the KKNK (Klein Karoo Nasionale Kunstefess), the Obs Family
Festival and Uitkampteatre, Stof Rooi
will run over a 5-day period at the
Cape Town City Hall auditorium: Thursday 29thand
Friday 30th
September (18h30 – 19h10), Saturday
1 October (22h30 – 23h10), Sunday 2 October (18h30 – 19h10) and
Monday 3rd
October (20h30 – 21h10). Tickets are R60.
Jason
invites all of the public to attend and converse with this show. “We
would love the public to see this performance and engage in a
conversation with us about masculinity and expectations that many
young men in South Africa find difficult to talk about,” says
Jason. “All is welcome - parents, teachers, learners, everyone!”
Stof
Rooi is
suitable for young children above the age of 13.
Stof
Rooi is also available for tours for the rest of the year – contact
